Conrad McRae was a professional basketball player who played for Providence College and later briefly in the NBA. He was born on January 11, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York and died tragically on July 10, 2000 at the age of 29.
McRae was a highly touted high school basketball player and went on to have a successful college career at Providence, where he was known for his shot-blocking and rebounding abilities. He was selected by the Washington Bullets in the 1993 NBA Draft but never played in a regular-season NBA game.
After his basketball career, McRae worked as a mentor and coach for young athletes in the New York City area. He also founded the Conrad McRae Youth League, a grassroots basketball program that helped disadvantaged youth in Brooklyn.
